Do you think Verizon realized axing 30% of the site’s user base by banning porn was maybe not the best way of getting more ad revenue?

…god, what if tumblr gets bought by, like, pornhub or something

like, i’m genuinely curious, who the fuck would want to buy it, lmfao

Oh jeez I could actually see that happening.

Can you imagine the discourse if it did?

my sister, badgering me about my wedding: Are you going to have a bridal party?

me, gently aghast: No, of course not.

sister: Are you going to have maids of honor?

me: No.

sister: Can I be your matron of honor?

me: No! There’s no honor here! Stop asking about this!

this place is a marriage and part of a system of marriages pay attention to it

I watched Aquaman during my flight back from New York because I wanted to see a stupid movie with beautiful underwater shots. When the captions read “[seahorses whinny]”, I realized that those tumblr posts that go “morosexual, already taking off their clothes” were actually pointing at some real human emotion

my cosmic coincidence about a month before you made this post i also took a flight and watched aquaman for broadly similar reasons and when the captions read seahorses whinnying i felt the same human emotion i took a screenshot unfortunately the app blocked the video content but at least the caption is immortalized here

Of course, the problem is that this is the future many conservatives want. And because if the provision of SORNA is unconstitutional most of the U.S. Code is logically unconstitutional, conservative judges will have a plausible argument against any regulatory action made by a Warren or Sanders administration that offends them.

I mean they don’t have to wait for a new administration for this but I get the sense they’re being intentionally vague on this point.  I mean what happens when the supreme court suddenly says “goodbye” to a huge chunk of current law?

overly clever compiler finds that US constitution depends on undefined behaviour, optimises away entire legal code.

re: instinctively downplaying how much Korean I speak when talking to Korean people I don’t want to talk to – it’s a nice trick and I kind of wish I could do it in English, but English was ‘the language I need to try extra hard to enunciate and express myself in’ for most of my life, and I can’t really turn that off – I expended inordinate effort ironing out any accent, hell if I know how to make it come back

i must confess i am a bit confused by this arent you a native korean speaker do they just assume you arent if i tried this in english people would just assume i had a learning disability

My Korean these days genuinely sucks. For the past six years, I’ve only spoken it for (average) two weeks a year when I go home to see my family.

Koreans assume I’m a native speaker when they see me, and then I make them think I’m American-raised (and therefore not that fluent) by

  • Frequently turning to my mom and saying “how do you say [word]?”, in real confusion, often in English
  • Talking kind of slowly as I work out how to say something in formal conjugation (I grew up not talking to my elders often, and I used informal to my parents because they were progressive)
  • Slurring a bit, I genuinely do kind of have an American accent nowadays

There are plenty of clueless American-raised Korean people in Seoul, so people usually have a preexisting category for me.

fascinating im now in a sort of existential crisis thinking about no longer being fluent in my native language anymore sounds like a trip well good thing i chose to be born in the lingua franca country

What will it take to convince Tumblr’s ad system that I don’t have Hodgkins Lymphoma?

Motherfucker! I thought we were done with this!

The thrilling saga continues:

I guess Twitter ads have decided that I’m a hemophiliac?

Oh, I remember an ad campaign for like, Multiple Sclerosis maybe? That actually played to tumblr spoonsy discourse pretty well.

That might be a thing, like the tumblr audience is so broad that full-platform campaigns can’t target them with ads for something they’d have to be convinced to want, but you can run public health campaigns since disease’ll hit them at the same rate as anyone, and they’re predisposed to appeals to vulnerability?

this by accident leads to tumblr users becoming incredibly healthy and conquering the world grimdark future
